3D Rendering Art (Blender)
My journey with Blender began in December of 2021. I have been learning exclusively through online tutorials and personal projects. This page highlights some of the major art milestones I have had while learning Blender.
This does not represent all of the artwork I have done on Blender, only the ones where major progress was made.
Autumn Building Render
For this project, I wanted to work harder on an atmospheric outdoor scene. This meant learning procedural sky texturing as well as volumetric particle effects (fog). This was also a larger foray into particle effects which I used on the trees for leaves.

Breakfast Render
For this project, I wanted to work on using particle systems and texture painting. Usually, I focus on procedural texturing, but for the eggs and bacon this was not a good method. I also learned particle systems for the pepper on the eggs and the water droplets on the window.

Kitchen Render
For this project, I focused most on planning. I started by putting just block shapes to mimic objects so that I could decide what things I wanted in the scene and what things I did not. This is different from my usual artwork where I just add things as I go; I had a plan and I had a clear finishline to approach. This was also the first project where I used an hdri background. There were two versions of this render. One that was isometric and one that was perspective.

Driving Render
Moving to an even larger scale, this project helped me hone my 3d modeling skills further. Now, procedural texturing is becoming more natural to me and easier for me to do. I used it on every material and even the sky. In this model, I also began playing with composition and procedural modeling. I used procedural modeling on the cliffs and the water.

Not-So-Snow Globes
May 2021
At this point, I felt pretty confident with using Blender and the majority of the tools. Before going into more advanced Blender tools, I decided to first focus on the creation process. To do this, I challenged myself to create a piece quickly. In the past, I would spend multiple days modeling. For this, I gave myself 45 minutes (not including rendering time). I first found inspiration from Pinterest, then I created this artwork. Overall, this taught me about the creation process and helped speed up my workflow.

Cozy Bedroom Render
Apr 2022
For this project, I set out to use each of the skills that I had learned previously. I also made a point to not use any tutorials in this project, so I could truly see what I can do.  This project helped me refine my modeling skills. It also gave me a place to practice procedural texturing (wood grain, carpeting, quilting). In addition, I also learned more about particles and using them to cover objects (various plants). Curves were also something that I learned to use through this render (lights and plant).

Walter Library Render
Mar 2022
Following my previous render, I began a new render, but now on a much larger scale. This had more lights and much more detail. I also began learning about procedural texturing through the bricks.

Dorm Room Render
Jan 2022
Once I became confident with the basics of Blender, it was important for me to make something on my own without any tutorials. I decided to make a model of my dorm room in order to remember my first year of college. I applied what I had learned about basic texturing, modeling, and lighting.

Donut Render
Dec 2021
A common first place to start learning 3D modeling is by modeling a realistic donut. This teaches the basics of modeling, particles, lighting, and texturing. This was created by following the BlenderGuru tutorial on Youtube.

Unfortunately, in the update between Blender 2.9 and 3.0, final versions of this render were deleted. The picture below shows the early stages.
