National History Day Documentaries
About the Competition
National History Day is a middle school (Junior level) and high school (Senior level) competition. The competition has general subcategories of media formats that information can be presented in (e.g. papers, websites, videos). Sebastian competed exclusively in the video category of the competition for three years: 8th-grade junior level, 10th-grade senior level, 11th-grade senior level.
The documentaries produced fulfilled the following requirements:
maximum of 10 minutes in length
include primary source footage
interview an expert in field
The Doll Test: Identifying and Breaking Down Barriers To School Integration
Produced for the 2020 competition, this documentary received eighth place in the national competition.

The theme of that year was "Breaking Down Barriers In History" and Sebastian worked with a partner, Audrey Faricy, to script, conduct interviews and produce this video.
Alan Turing: The Man Who Saved His Country, But Whose Country Wouldn't Save Him
Produced for the 2019 competition, the documentary received an honorable mention in the Minnesota state competition.

Produced in the 2017 competition, the documentary received an 3rd place in the Junior National Competition.
